StampWorksä is a unique stamp inventory and album page generation software that combines inventory and album generation into a single integrated program. The inventory portion was designed to be a true inventory system, not an online stamp catalog. The user may enter 30 separate fields of information regarding a set of stamps, including purchase price and date. StampWorksä will optionally generate the stamps in the set. Individual stamps may of course be entered. Each stamp contains 40 separate fields for information regarding the stamp. Many of the fields are user-defined drop lists for information such as watermark, printing method, tagging, etc.. Since album page generation is one of the key design goals, the size and shape of the stamp is required to generate pages.
StampWorksä allows the user to create as many databases as they like in the location they select. The user is not tied to a single database in a fixed location on your hard drive. So if the user is a country collector, the user can create a database for each country or group of countries. If the user is a topical collector, they can create a database for each topic. StampWorksä allows you to create as many albums as you wish within a single database. If the user has a US collection and wants to create pages for a general album, they simply create a general album and add their pages. If they also have a specialized collection of used plate number singles, they can create an additional album for just those singles.
Creating an album page is extremely simple. Once the album is created, the user adds a page to the album and then selects which set(s) and/or stamp(s) they want on the page in a simple dialog box. The Populate button then reads the list of stamps and automatically formats the page, or pages. Text information from the database is also placed on the page. The default page header is Country, Issue Date, Watermark, and Perforation on 3 separate lines. The defaults are easily modified to use any field on the database. Likewise a stamp can have a title above it, text below it, and information inside the stamp itself, such as catalog number, color, and denomination. This information is selectable from any stamp related field. See a sample page . Once a page is created, the user is free to edit, move, add or delete any text as well as add any stamp from the inventory and move or delete any stamp from the page. Text fonts, styles and colors are also editable. No more retyping information on an album page that is already in the inventory database. An exciting new feature of Version 2.2 is the ability to generate a complete album of all stamps in the database with the push of one button. We recently generated a complete Switzerland album in 45 seconds on a 500MHz PC.
Basic reporting of inventories and want lists is provided. The underlying database is MS Access, so if you own Access or any reporting tool such as Crystal Reports, more customized reports can be generated. A catalog cross reference report has been added so the user can generate a cross reference list if stamps are entered with two or more catalog numbers.
Graphics capabilities have been added in Version 2.0. A thumbnail sketch of a stamp can be presented on the stamp page and in the generated album. A separate view is available for a larger look at a stamp's image with the option of enhancing a cancellation. Images may by in either BMP or JPG formats.
