On Dec. 23, 1794, Nathaniel Skinner, Sr., conveyed by Warrantee deed his land which was located directly across the road from the Jersey Church to his son, Robert Skinner. The estate of Robert Skinner (Estate #15, 1823) was administrated in Somerset Co., PA Aug. 25, 1823. The widow, Mary, and the children shown below were named and the husbands of the daughters were named. An original bill from Samuel Skinner for caring for Robert during his last illness is included among the papers. There is an original note in favor of John Skinner signed by Robert Skinner, spelled with one "n". The record says it is believed that Cortland Skinner had five children. The administrators were John Rush and John Skinner. John Skiner spelled his name with one "n" and his mother spelled hers with two "n's." The Census of 1790 spells the family name "Soiner". (?) Evans Rush stated that he believed the wife, Mary was Mary Willetts and a daughter of Prudence Willetts of Turkeyfoot. Mrs. Adaline Thorpe Blackmarr stated that she understood that the maiden name of her great-grandmother was Willis.
